We’ll start early when your guide picks you up from your hotel in Cusco. We’ll drive for approximately 3 hours to Soraypampa, in the lush Apurimac River Valley, where we’ll serve you a hot breakfast.
We’ll begin our hike along the “Camino Real,” gradually ascending through a traditional village before embarking on a steep 1.5-hour climb, gaining 1,200 feet (365 meters) in just 2 miles (3.2 km).
At the summit, breathtaking views await: a turquoise glacial lake framed by rugged peaks and a majestic glacier.
Admire the sacred Salkantay (6,000 m / 19,685 ft) and Humantay (4,000 m / 13,123 ft) peaks, and experience Andean traditions as shamans offer blessings by the lake.
